#6 Wisconsin vs. #1 Ohio State: October 31, 1942

Wisconsin 17, Ohio State 7

The Badgers headed into the 1942 matchup with Ohio State looking for their first win against the Buckeyes since 1918. Thanks to possibly the best game of Elroy “Crazylegs” Hirsch’s one-year career at UW, the Badgers upset the top team in the country 17-7.

Crazylegs took 13 carries for 118 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Dave Schreiner to lead the Badgers to a victory.

Wisconsin went on to a 8-1-1 season, capping the year by defeating Minnesota for the Slab of Bacon.
