Wisconsin Basketball: Angry Twitter Lady Upset with Sam Dekker
By Jim Oxley
Former Wisconsin basketball star Sam Dekker defended his decision to leave school early against an angry ranter on Twitter
Earlier this week former Wisconsin basketball star Sam Dekker returned to the Houston Rockets after spending time in the NBA D-League following rehab from a back injury. An angry lady on Twitter started an argument with Dekker over his leaving the Badgers after his junior season.

Dekker, who hasn’t played much for the Houston Rockets since being drafted 18th overall in the 2015 NBA Draft, was asked by reporters earlier in the week if he regretted leaving school early. He responded with the following Tweet:
He punctuated that Tweet with another, saying he is and will always be a Badger.
That wasn’t enough for Twitter user Lori VanNatta, who fired off some Tweets at the former Badgers star, taking him to task for leaving Wisconsin before his senior season. (Thanks to TheBigLead for grabbing the Tweets, as Ms. VanNatta has since deleted her account).
"You quit us & ran for the $.You’re living YOUR dream too bad for us.We gave you a free ride& expected 4 years. Sham.https://t.co/Xm3Mri0whL— Lori VanNatta (@LoriVanNatta) March 1, 2016"
"You made a commitment for four years. Hardworking taxpayers who will never be millionaires payed you & you left.https://t.co/5eD9XCMLsh— Lori VanNatta (@LoriVanNatta) March 1, 2016"
Dekker fired right back, defending himself.
That didn’t stop Lori from continuing her epic Twitter rant:
"Its a freaking game-NOT work.Do you know what work is? Some at UW work 2 or 3 jobs & carry 18 credits. They know workhttps://t.co/2wYJaOgfqi— Lori VanNatta (@LoriVanNatta) March 2, 2016"
Around this time others started joining in on the fun, including Frank Kaminsky:
Even our own Erik Buchinger got a rise out of Ms. VanNatta:
Seriously, catch up, Erik.
Dekker got one last shot in before he was finished with the whole thing, and Lori bowed out by deleting her Twitter account.
I won’t claim to say my opinion is the right one, but here it is: Dekker, thanks for three great years and a pair of Final Fours, and best of luck in the pros. Wisconsin is better for having had you on campus for three years instead on none, and we’ll happily hang on to those three years.
