Bronson Koenig hit a dagger to send the Wisconsin basketball team to the Sweet Sixteen

The Wisconsin basketball team is back in the Sweet Sixteen, and the Badgers can largely thank Bronson Koenig‘s slump-busting night for taking them to the next level.

The junior point guard knocked down six three-pointers in the Badgers’ 66-63 victory over the two-seeded Xavier Musketeers, including the game-winning, buzzer-beating three-pointer off of an inbounds play with two seconds remaining on the clock.

It’s a shot that Badgers fans will remember forever.

Here it is in all of it’s glory:

It was like Sam Dekker‘s shot against Arizona last year that sealed the Badgers trip to the Final Four all over again. It was like Ben Brust‘s buzzer-beater against Michigan to force overtime in 2013. It was like Michael Flowersefforts back in 2008 to seal a win over the Texas Longhorns.

Koenig, who scored just two points two days earlier in the Badgers’ opening-round win over Pittsburgh, went off for 20 against Xavier, shooting 6-of-12 from distance.

He earned a “Gatorade bath” from his teammates.

The shot reminds us all about the best part of March Madness – one shot can take a team to the highest of highs and send another to the lowest of lows.

The shot led to some off-the-court reactions, like this one from former Wisconsin basketball star Frank Kaminsky.

Wisconsin survives and will advance to the Sweet Sixteen against Notre Dame, looking to play the upset once again against the six-seed Fighting Irish.
