A standout at outside linebacker and running back, as well as a great wrestler, Mason Stokke has a bright future ahead of him.

One of four in-state recruits in this class, Menomonie, WI native Mason Stokke is a big linebacker who will be a great fit for the Wisconsin Badgers on the outside in defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox’s 3-4 defense.

A three-star recruit according to 247Sports, Stokke was ranked as the 90th-best outside linebacker in the country and ninth-best in the state of Wisconsin. Stokke also had offers from Army, Iowa, Northern Illinois and Western Illinois.

Stokke, who comes in at 6’3”, 205 pounds, was a standout on both sides of the ball his senior season at Menomonie High School. At running back, Stokke ran for 1,740 yards and 29 touchdowns while earning first-team all-state honors and offensive MVP honors in the Big Rivers Conference. But he really shined at linebacker, compiling 184 tackles, 22 for loss, two sacks, three forced fumbles and three interceptions. Because of such a stellar season Stokke earned first-team all-state honors at linebacker, 2015 WFCA Defensive Player of the Year, 2015 John Anderson Award winner as state’s top senior linebacker and Big Rivers Conference defensive MVP as well.

The Badgers are stacked at outside linebacker in the upcoming season so I expect Stokke to take a redshirt this year. But in the future he’s a player that many should keep an eye on as I can see Stokke be another case of an in-state recruit who shines at the next level for the Badgers.

Besides being an all-state football player, Stokke also shined on the wrestling mat. This past year he became a two-time state champion, capping off his second-straight undefeated season.
