Offensive Player of the Year

The Winner: Corey Clement

Other Nominees: Jazz Peavy

Unlike the Defensive POY Award, there was little debate on who should take home this award for Wisconsin. While Peavy had a solid season, he was nominated merely as a technicality to go against Clement for the award. Clement was unanimously picked the winner for good reason after a dominating 2016 season.

Corey was always the spark the offense needed for Wisconsin, and carried the Badgers to a lot of success throughout the year. As we touched on in Clements previous award, Corey ran for over 1,300 yards and 14 touchdowns in his 2016 season. He was always the number one option for Wisconsin and in turn comes home with the highest honor of 2016.

Clement led Wisconsin’s offense in rushing and touchdowns, and built up a dominating 2016 campaign. Clement had season high games against both Ohio State and Penn State in which he ran for 164 yards in each contest. Clement endured the heavy workload all season and in turn came away with a pretty great result. There’s no doubt we’ll see Corey at the next level, and we’ll certainly enjoy seeing him one last time on January 2nd wearing the Red and White.
