Wisconsin Basketball: Evaluating Big Ten title contenders’ remaining schedules
Purdue Boilermakers: 22-5 (11-3)
Posting an identical conference and overall record as the Badgers, the Boilermakers have a leg up on Wisconsin thanks to their victory earlier in the conference schedule. Due to no additional meeting, if the Boilermakers and Badgers tie at the end of the year, both will be rewarded a conference title, but it will be Purdue who gets the one seed in the conference tournament.
The Boilermakers have looked impressive as of late and are being considered by many the best team in the conference. This is largely in part to their skilled front court- particularly Caleb Swanigan, who has been a double double machine this season and is in high consideration for not only Big Ten Player of the Year, but national honors as well.
Purdue arguably has the most daunting schedule remaining as they too will travel on the road this week for two games. First up on the list is Penn State, who is never easy to beat on the road and already tripped up Maryland earlier this season. The Boilermakers will then head to Ann Arbor to take on Michigan- who just beat Wisconsin at home and is also fighting to make the NCAA Tournament.
Three of their last four games are on the road.
