Wisconsin Football: Badgers land three 2018 commits
The Wisconsin Badgers landed three more recruits for their 2018 class.
Three in-state prospects committed to the University of Wisconsin to play football for the Badgers in 2018 on Monday.
Just weeks after National Signing Day for the 2017 season is in the books, the Badgers continued to make noise on their 2018 class. Boyd Dietzen, C.J. Goetz, and Mason Platter were the newest players to announce their plan to attend Wisconsin.
All three players are from the state of Wisconsin, which continues to be a huge pipeline for Badgers football considering they are the only division one college football team in the state. As long as Wisconsin reels in hometown talent, things will always be heading in the right direction.
Dietzen, a defensive end out of Kimberly, WI, is currently a junior at one of the most dominating football programs in the state. Kimberly is fresh off their third straight state championship and with Dietzen on the team for one more year, a four-peat is not out of the question.
Dietzen currently sits as a 3-star recruit according to 247Sports and is listed at 6-foot-3, 235 pounds.

Also a three-star defensive player is C.J. Goetz, out of Waukesha and Catholic Memorial High School. Goetz, a 6-foot-4 inside linebacker, also made his announcement on Twitter. He already had offers from Bowling Green, New Mexico, North Dakota State and Northern Illinois, according to BadgerNation, and with his senior year looming he was beginning to garner interest from bigger schools such as Iowa and Michigan State in the Big Ten.
His commitment comes one day after Wisconsin offered him a scholarship following his unofficial visit to Madison.

Later on Monday, the defensive backfield added another commit as Mason Platter pledged to the Badgers. Platter, an under-the-radar linebacker who has received no national ranking yet, was surprised at the scholarship offer he received from the Badgers and did not take long to accept the amazing opportunity at hand.
“It is incredibly humbling and it means so much to me and my family,” Platter told Scout. “We’re [all] incredibly thankful to the whole Badger staff and everyone who helped me along the way. I was in total shock when they offered. It’s a huge honor because they just don’t throw out offers.”
At 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, Platter can be seen as a project for the Badgers and a versatile component to their 3-4 defensive scheme. Quick enough to play linebacker, he also has the frame and strength to be on the defensive line and could be a dual threat guy for Jim Leonhard and the Badgers defense.
Out of Menomonie High School, Platter will be the third of three former attendees on the Badgers’ roster. Coming in this year is Alex Fenton, who will be joining Mason Stokke already on the roster. Platter reported interest from Minnesota, Iowa state, Iowa, North Dakota State, South Dakota State, North Dakota, South Dakota, Columbia, and an offer from Northern Illinois.
Wisconsin now has six 2018 commits.
