Wisconsin Basketball Falls Another Line After Losing 4 of 5

It’s been a brutal time for Wisconsin Basketball over the past two weeks as the Badgers have now dropped four of five heading into the most important stretch of the season. Over the course of this brutal stretch the Badgers have struggled mightily on offense, and in turn it has cost the Badgers heavily in their season goals. While the Badgers are not technically eliminated from Big Ten Title Contetion, they might as well be as they trail Purdue by a full game and a half with one two to play. With the way Wisconsin has been playing, there isn’t any guarantee that they’ll be able to take care of their own business let alone worry about Purdue’s. In addition to Big Ten Standings, Wisconsin has hurt themselves in the picture for March as the Badgers have continued to fall in Joe Lundari’s Bracketology.

Badger's Weekly Outlook: Whats On Tap?

According to the latest release, the Badgers have fallen to the #6 line in the East Region, trending downward from last week in which they were slated as a #5 seed. As it sits now the Badgers would draw a tough California Golden Bears team who recently played a tough contest against the Oregon Ducks and are a team that can score a plethora of points at times. The Badgers could also find themselves heading out West to Salt Lake City, where they would take on the winner of a play in 11 seed game. Each destination has it’s perk, but the way Wisconsin is trending a six seed may even be a little high for the Badgers.

I was surprised to see the Badgers on the six line, expecting them to be more of a 7. The next few games will determine which Big Ten team likely ends up as the 6 seed as Iowa and Minnesota, the Badgers next two opponents, both currently sit on the 7 line. If the Badgers are able to right the ship, and win their final two regular season games and make a run at the Big Ten Tournament title the Badgers could still possibly slip into a 5 seed possibly playing in Milwaukee, but that would be the highest likely destination, and with the way Wisconsin is playing a winning streak seems out of the cards at this point in the season.
