After a difficult February, Its Time to Turn the Page for Wisconsin Basketball

The month of February has always been a difficult for many people, myself included. In my opinion, its up there as one of the worst months of the year, and many sports fans would agree. We lose our football, Baseball is still a couple months away, and hockey and basketball is in the dog days with everyone looking forward to March. Even for non sports fans you’ve got a short month, so bills are due sooner and you’re probably already dried out from a big Valentines Day. OH and the weather stinks!

Yes, February is always rough, but for Badger fans its been an increasingly difficult Month. The Wisconsin Basketball team has struggled mightily and many fans are beginning to grow restless at the results of the month. With the Big Ten Title almost out of grasp, its time to reset and put the month behind them. It’s time to turn the attention to March and see what they can make out of a sinking season. While many have written the Badgers off after their recent stretch, not all hope should be lost. This team still has a lot of firepower, and if they can turn it around before the Big Dance they could still be a dangerous team come March.

The way to do that is to become a bit less predictable then they’ve been in past games. During the month the Badgers have had many poor trends, but the main issue is the offensive possession game. Wisconsin currently has one of the highest empty possession rates, with many of the offensive trips resulting in few points. To add insult to injury, the Badgers are shooting a measly .658 from the free throw line, which was one a staple that propelled Wisconsin Basketball to the elite level they played at in the Bo Ryan days. For Wisconsin Basketball, its time to finally turn the page on this terrible month and get back to the basic fundamentals that built Wisconsin Basketball, but also mix it up to generate a spark. While it seems difficult, it isn’t impossible. If the Badgers want to make a run, it will be a necessary step as the calendar turns up the heat even more.
