While it may be the off season for a majority of Wisconsin Football, a select few are still working hard to achieve their professional dreams as six Badgers are scheduled to participate in this week’s NFL Combine in Indianapolis. These six Badgers are looking to make an impression on one of the 32 NFL GM’s in hopes they’ll be able to achieve their lifelong dream of making it to the National Football League. The Six Badgers participating in the combine are Linebackers TJ Watt and Vince Biegel, Running Backs Corey Clement and Dare Ogunbowale, and Cornerback Sojourn Shelton. The Badgers highest rated prospect in offensive lineman Ryan Ramczyk is not participating due to hip Surgery he had shortly after the Cotton Bowl.

Ramcyzk is slotted as a first round pick in almost every mock draft as he sits highly on many different draft boards for teams looking at an impact lineman. Despite injury, Ryan will likely still be a 1st round pick come April. Offensive teammates Corey Clement and Dare Ogunbowale are lower on the board, looking to up their value through the combine. Clement had a decent showing at this years Senior Bowl, but in a deep running back class its hard to tell where he could possibly go. Corey has great size, but his speed tests could make or break the running backs stock. Teammate Dare Ogunbowale is looking to show his burst of speed in hopes of getting off the board earlier. NFL.com rates Ogunbowale as a typical third down running back, projecting as a 5th to 6th round pick. James White’s recent showing in Super Bowl 51 may help Dare has they have a comparable skill set in the speedy shifty type.

Defensively the Badgers have three participating in the Combine led by linebacker TJ Watt. Many have Watt high on their board including Mel Kiper who projects Watt as a late first round to early second round pick. His length, speed, and last name alone should get him off the board quickly, and he could go higher with a good showing. Teammate Vince Biegel has been reffered to as a high motor guy, who could make an impact right away. Biegel will have to show better in the speed drills, but currently projects as a 4th round pick according to NFL.com. The last Badger participating is that of Sojourn Shelton III, looking to move onto a teams radar. Shelton is considered undersized, but with good speed. While he may be small, he played big in his time at Wisconsin. You can never have too many DB’s, so expect Shelton to come off the board in the late rounds of the third day.
