The regular season is officially behind us, and the Madness in March is finally underway. Refreshing isn’t it? No matter the start or finish you had many teams are able to wipe the slates clean and focus on the only thing that matters, the Big Dance. Some teams have already sealed their spot, and some are living in a bubble waiting for the opportunity to make or break their season with every possible game. As conference tournaments are already well under way, many teams are punching their ticket to the dance already, but for the Big Ten the action is almost underway, so we’ll take a look at the current seeding projection as well as how this could change come this weekend on Selection Sunday.

Despite a tough finish to the regular season Wisconsin Basketball was still able to walk away from the Big Ten with a #2 seed locked up after their final win against Minnesota. The Badgers currently sit at the #6 line in the East Region according to Joe Lunardi’s latest bracketology release. Wisconsin Basketball currently projects to take on Middle Tennessee the #11 seed in Orlando with a second round meeting with either Florida State or Winthrop in the round of 32. While the Badgers currently sit in what many would call a favorable a spot, the line could easily move depending on the results of this weekends tournament.

The Big Ten Tourney kicked off last night, and many of the teams will continue to battle it out on Thursday. Forunatley for the Badgers, they will have the day to rest and watch as they earned a bye to the Quarterfinals as the #2 seed where they will await the winner of Iowa and Indiana. The rest could certainly help the Badgers and a win would likely put them against the winner of Northwestern or Maryland. One of the benefits of the Badgers earning the #2 seed is that the rest of the teams will likely wear each other down while Wisconsin will come out with fresh legs. With that advantage, there is no reason why the Badgers should not make it to Sunday. An early exit would possibly knock Wisconsin to a 7 seed, while a deep run could move the Badgers up to a 5, but I don’t see much more movement other than a line either way for Wisconsin Basketball. Time will tell!
