Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball senior forward Vitto Brown competed in the College Basketball Dunk Contest Thursday night.

While I am sure the Wisconsin Badgers players would rather be playing in the Final Four this weekend in Phoenix, Arizona, at least one Badgers player was able make the trip and still perform.

Wisconsin forward Vitto Brown was selected to participate in the College Basketball Dunk Contest Thursday night, joining a handful of the nation’s most exciting players selected to compete prior to the sport’s biggest stage.

What was odd to Badgers fans is that no one from the Wisconsin Badgers roster was selected to participate in the three-point contest. Bronson Koenig and Zak Showalter certainly could have competed and possibly won that. Even Brown could have been included in that. Instead, he was given the honor to partake in the slam dunk contest- despite only connecting on a few dunks all year.

The results did not turn out the way he would have liked, but it was still a great accomplishment for the senior out of Bowling Green, Ohio. During the event, he received a ton of support from fans and players- who were just happy to see a member of their beloved team out their competing one more time.

Rodney Pryor from Georgetown ended up taking home the title, while Iowa’s Peter Jok went out on a high note after missing the NCAA Tournament as he took home the three-point contest crown.

Pryor defeated East Tennessee State’s A.J. Merriweather in the finals.

Looking ahead, it would be shocking to not see Badgers’ Khalil Iverson in this event at some point. Iverson may very well be Wisconsin’s most electric dunker since Alando Tucker. Although, if Iverson were to partake in the event in upcoming years, it would mean the Badgers are not playing the Final Four.

I’m sure most of you would be OK with him missing out on the event.
