Wisconsin Badgers redshirt junior will leave the program as a graduate transfer after this year.

Early Wednesday, it was announced that Wisconsin Badgers guard Jordan Hill would be leaving the basketball program to explore other options as a graduate transfer.

Hill will graduate this May, but will hold one more year of basketball eligibility due to him red-shirting his freshman year under Bo Ryan. Entering next season, Hill was set to be the lone senior on scholarship. With his departure, the young-looking Badgers will be without a senior scholarship player and now have two open scholarships to either grant to a late signee, existing player, or incoming transfer.

Hill rarely saw the court under coach Bo Ryan, but saw a huge spike in his minutes and production last year in his sophomore season once Greg Gard took over the team following Ryan’s retirement. Despite averaging just under three points, Hill brought an extra boost of energy, a perimeter threat, and solid defender onto the court.

Playing behind the likes of Bronson Koenig and Zak Showalter had to have been tough for Hill, especially when he saw his minutes get cut in favor of freshman D’Mitrik Trice this past season. Hill had rumors before about him wanting to transfer out of the program, and his decision to finally do it likely has to do with the amount of, or lack there of, playing time he has received. As one of the last of Ryan’s recruits still on the team, the tables are turning onto Gard and his recruits moving forward and Hill likely recognized the situation.

It is unclear where Hill will transfer to next season, as he does have immediate eligibility. Being from Pasadena, California, it could be safe to assume Hill will be headed somewhere out West.

Badger of Honor certainly wishes Jordan the best of luck next year and a big congratulations for earning his degree at Wisconsin-Madison.
