Recruiting Services:
The job of the recruiting services and rankers could be tougher. The pressure is on them to figure out how the elite prospects are and how to rank them. This might mean missing on some prospects because the timeline is moved up. The senior season may have less effect on the final ranking as high school seasons will only be concluding five weeks before the first signing period. A guy may grow late in high school, or put on muscle before his senior year (I certainly did neither) which completely changes his performance. Perhaps an injury elsewhere or coaching decision necessitates a position switch for the prospect before his senior year?
You may have to rely on sophomore or junior tape to get a real read on a player. In general, the prep junior season may take on an outsized role for evaluating recruits. It’s going to be difficult to fully assess the senior year in terms of the player composite.
