Wisconsin’s Nigel Hayes at the 2017 NBA Combine
The NBA Combine looks at a player’s weight and body fat percentage. Obviously these rankings compared to other Combine participants varies tremendously based on the composition of the Combine. More guards and fewer bigs would dramatically skew the averages and rankings as much as the inverse.
Weight: 245 pounds (2016, 5th heaviest) 254.2 pounds (2017, 2nd heaviest)
Body Fat Percentage: 10.9 percent (2016, 8th highest) 11.5 percent (2017, 2nd highest)
Definitely a scrawnier combine this year. That body fat percentage from 2017 would put Hayes 5th at the 2016 Combine but is 2nd this year. Hayes added over 9 pounds to his frame from 2016 which should help him in the post against NBA bodies. Hayes was listed at 240 on the Badgers’ official roster but he also may have been adding muscle in preparation for the Combine. I don’t think we can accuse Wisconsin of pulling an Eddie Lacy with listed player weights.
