New Rule: Reset the Shot Clock

"Reset the shot clock to 20 seconds when the ball is inbounded in the front court after a foul or other violation by the defense, such as a kicked ball. If more than 20 seconds remains on the shot clock, the shot clock will not be reset."

While Wisconsin does not play at the plodding pace as some commentators might suggest, it’s not a quick-strike offense.  The ball is walked up, swung around, touches the post, kick out, perhaps touch the post again, and rinse and repeat.   Check out the Badger rankings in Possessions Per Game:

2016-2017: #329

2015-2016: #342

2014-2015: #346

2013-2014: #332

2012-2013: #320

2011-2012: #345 (last)

2010-2011: #345 (last)

2009-2010: #341

2008-2009: #338

2007-2008: #321

2006-2007: #298

The Badgers clearly prefer a slower game with fewer total possessions.  Methodical seems to be the consensus nice way to phrase it.  Not resetting the shot clock to 30 after a foul will shorten offensive possessions meaning more total offensive possessions per game.
