#1 Pretend Journalist
In my younger days, I worked as a part-time stringer for the sports department of the Capital Times. Because the (then) sports editor Adam Mertz is an awesome guy, he wrangled me an extra press pass for the 2002 Axe game between Wisconsin and Minnesota. Mertz does some pregame Badger football radio stuff for ESPN now and is arguably the dean of the Mt. Horeb prep sports media.
I got to sit in the press box, eat free good, review the stat sheets, walk on the field after the game, and shadow the actual journalists as they interviewed players and coaches. I asked Kevin Cosgrove (Badger Defensive Coordinator from 1995-2003, Linebackers Coach 1990-1994) what was probably some inane question about the defensive scheme. He smiled, put an arm around my shoulder, and gave me a thoughtful reply.

Wisconsin flattened Minnesota that day 49-31 thanks to Anthony Davis’ preposterous stat line: 301 yards, 45 carries, 5 TDs. Current Badger Defensive Coordinator Jim Leonhard had two INTs. Wisconsin would lose to the Gophers on a last second FG the next season which is the last time Minnesota claimed the Axe.
