Top 5 NBA Draft Fits for Bronson Koenig
Minnesota Timberwolves
Badger of Honor listed Nigel Hayes as a fit in Minnesota too. At first glance, the Wolves may not appear to make much sense for Koenig. This is the same franchise that drafted two point guards at #5 and #6 in the 2009 NBA Draft. Steph Curry was picked #7 that year by Golden State. Good call Minnesota. One of those PGs was Ricky Rubio who is still on the roster, and won’t be hitting free agency until 2019. The Wolves also drafted Kris Dunn from Providence last year and acquired Badger-killer and Minnesota-native Tyus Jones in a trade with Cleveland during the 2015 NBA Draft. Jones’ modest $1.4 million salary for 2017-18 is the last guaranteed year on his contract. But in 2016-17, the Timberwolves ranked last in the NBA in three-pointers made and three-pointers attempted. Good outside shooting would help Minnesota open things up for Karl-Anthony Towns inside and his post presence should lead to open looks outside.
