Bucky Badger is a legit Threat

Your mascot represents your sports teams.  They get the crowd amped and hopefully send an initial message to your opponent.  That requires your mascot to demonstrate some toughness.

If you were walking in the woods and stumbled across a Badger you would tread carefully. I think you make yourself big for mountain lions and play dead for bears.  I assume hoping and praying are the main strategies for dealing with a Badger, especially a  Wisconsin Badger.

They represent the state well and aren’t terrifying, but a Golden Gopher, Hawkeye, or Terrapin instill much fear.  I mean, the Iowa Hawkeye mascot is legit named “Herky.”
