Former Badgers guard Zak Showalter worked out for the home-state Milwaukee Bucks this week.

With just days left before the 2017 NBA Draft, former Wisconsin Badgers guard and Germantown high school standout, Zak Showalter, earned a draft with the home-state Milwaukee Bucks.

Fellow teammates Nigel Hayes and Bronson Koenig have been receiving most of the love from the Wisconsin team a year ago that made the Sweet 16 and was a part of a core that went to two Final Fours, but Showalter was able to secure a visit to Milwaukee to showcase his talents.

For those who do not know Showalter or have never seen him play, his game says more than his 8.3 points per game indicate. A scrappy player and an elite defender, Showalter has come up clutch countless times for the Badgers and could fill needs on an NBA roster if given the chance.

Showalter rounds up the four seniors that left Wisconsin last year as members to work out for the Bucks. Hayes, Koenig, and Vitto Brown all had an earlier session with Milwaukee.

“It was a pretty cool opportunity to be able to come out here and display my talents a little bit,” Showalter told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “I don’t get too nervous playing basketball at this point, but the hometown organization always brings a little extra out in you.”

Monday’s workout with the Bucks was his second meeting with an NBA team as he met with the Chicago Bulls a few weeks ago.

With the Bucks’ new NBA minor league team affiliate in Oshkosh, Showalter could look to get an opportunity to play with the new Wisconsin Herd squad in the NBA G League, which is formerly known as the NBA Developmental League (D-League).

It is unsure which former Badgers will get drafted, but it will fun to watch where each players’ paths take them.
