Former Wisconsin Badgers star Bronson Koenig signed his first official NBA contract Thursday afternoon.

A dream has finally became a reality for the former Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball star, Bronson Koenig, as he officially signed his first NBA contract.

Following the NBA Draft, in which he did not hear his name called, Koenig signed a two-way deal, almost instantaneously, with the Milwaukee Bucks and was invited into training camp as well as a shot to play for the organization’s Summer League team.

The Bucks were one of the few teams that had Koenig in this offseason for a pre-draft workout. During that time, Koenig was unable to complete 100 percent of the session thanks to a injury ankle that sidelined him for a decent chunk of the workout. Evidently it did not matter as Milwaukee was quick to pull the trigger on the Badgers’ all-time three-point record holder.

On Thursday, Koenig and the Bucks made it official on paperwork.

The Bucks will begin Summer League play on Friday against the defending Eastern Conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers and will mark as Koenig’s memorable NBA debut. The game will be televised on ESPN2 at 5:30 CT.

Koenig leaves Wisconsin as mentioned the program’s all-time three-point record holder, surpassing Ben Brust this past season for most triples in his career. Injuries seemed to plague Koenig as the year got deeper, but he proved his toughness and grit- knocking down clutch shot after clutch shot and bringing the Badgers one heartbreaking shot away from an Elite Eight appearance.

He was a part of two Final Fours and one national championship appearance and will bring a perimeter threat, stingy defense, and winning mentality to the up-and-coming Bucks who finished sixth in the Eastern Conference last season and are looking to keep rising.

Stay up to date with Badger of Honor as Koenig’s Summer League season gets started.
