IOWA CITY, IOWA- SEPTEMBER 10: Defensive back Desmond King

Iowa has eight or fewer wins in 7/8 seasons.  Will they eclipse eight wins this year?

The smart money says no. Seven or eights wins is on the optimistic end of many pundits and Hawkeye analysts spectrum. Some think this is somewhat of a rebuilding year with a new offensive coordinator (Brian Ferentz) and a yet to be determined quarterback spot. However, Iowa usually surprises when expectations are low, and its hard to ignore the advantages of having three seniors linebackers, and one of the best offensive lines in the country returning. I am thinking 9 wins isn’t out of the realm of possibility.

Badger of Honor:

The Hawkeyes start the season against Wyoming which is no push over coming out of the Mountain West.  They also face The Ohio State and Penn State in Big Ten play although they get both games at home.  That seven to eight win mark is probably a fair estimate for Iowa but it really wouldn’t take much for them to struggle to become bowl eligible.  It could be a long season in Iowa depending on how Nebraska and Minnesota look this year.
