DETROIT, MI – NOVEMBER 12: Quarterback Damion Terry

How will breaking in another new QB change the Michigan State offense?

ANSWER: Truthfully, the offense was run poorly a season ago. The offensive coordinator, Dave Warner, didn’t play to the strengths of his gunslingers and often highlighted weaknesses. With Lewerke, a strong-armed dual-threat, there will be more of a running element in the backfield that Michigan State hasn’t had since Drew Stanton. There will be growing pains along the way, but change will be positive.

Badger of Honor Reaction:

Whether it’s Kirk Cousins, Drew Stanton, Connor Cook, or Jeff Smoker, the Spartan offense is at its best with an experienced QB who starts for multiple seasons.  Things obviously can’t get much worse than 2016 so the arrow can only be pointing up for Michigan State on offense in 2017.
