10 Questions with Victory Bell Rings about Penn State Football
Is there another RB, past or present, pro or college, who Saquon Barkley reminds you of?
His diverse game makes it tough to pick just one back. However, I’d say his fast-paced cuts, soft hands, and size compare to LaDanian Tomlinson. His patience in the run game draws to mind Le’Veon Bell as well, but he’s a much more explosive back than both of those guys. In that sense, he’s in a class of his own.
Badger of Honor Reaction:
Saquon Barkley is a lock to my eyes to get to New York for the Heisman ceremony. I can’t put Baker Mayfield from Oklahoma next to him yet until I see how Mayfield does against The Ohio State. But Barkley starts the year as Heisman favorite and the best RB in college football. The Tomlinson comp makes sense as Barkley is a great pass catcher. Barkley is an inch taller and five pounds or so heavier. It’s purportedly a deep class of quarterbacks coming out in 2018, but Barkely should be the first RB selected. You can bet some QB-needy team will look to trade down with a team desperate to move up to take Barkley. The 2017 NFL draft was loaded with RB talent and Barkley still might have measured up as the best RB in that bunch had he been available.
