Who has to start showing up for the Cougar offense to start clicking?

Lawless Republic: That’s a tough question.  There are a lot of names that come to mind.

Firstly, I think it starts with offensive coordinator Ty Detmer.  The best coaches in football always adapt for the talent on the roster – so Detmer needs to make some tweaks.

Secondly, the play of the wide receivers needs to improve.  The offensive line isn’t baad and [starting quarterback Tanner] Magnum has shown he can be brilliant – but the Cougar wide receivers aren’t overly experienced.  There’s been plenty of chatter about giving some other receivers additional game reps (specifically Micah Simon and Akile Davis), so we’ll see how that plays out.

Badger of Honor Reaction: Great point about coaching figuring out how to use its personnel best.  It’s the coaches job to get its talent on the field and in a position to succeed.  I think too often some football pundits get taken with scheme fit.  But great teams build their scheme around their player’s talent.   As opposed to to rigidly (or stubbornly) sticking to scheme without the personnel to implement it effectively.
