2nd Quarter

Nebraska penalized on the return and starting at its own 32.  Lot of east-west dancing yet still somehow a run gets 6.  Badger run defense not on the mark today.  Lee rolls right and underneath taking away by Andrew Van Ginkel.    Receiver finds a hole between Orr and Dixon for a big gain.   Garrett Rand gets pressure and forces a throw away.  Setting up 3rd-and-8.  Badger corner blitz is late.  and Huskers convert.   Nelson didn’t get there and he was unblocked.  Lee throw hangs up and Nelson undercuts it and bats it away.  Ball is too late and floated or that’s a big gain.   Nebraska in 3rd-and-4,  Badger pressure misses from Leon Jacobs and Lee guns a slant for a first down.  That’s twice now on third down Badger blitzers have come free and allowed a completion.  Handoff gets nothing as strong push from Connor Sheehy and Olive Sagapolu collapse the running lanes.  Lee under pressure but again gets the throw away.  Connelly nice job in pass coverage to push them to the side line.  Nebraska is in 3rd-and-11.  Lee picking on the freshman but Carriere-Williams reads the receiver’s eyes and gets a hand up to deflect. Nebraska misses the 33-yard FG.

Wisconsin 10  Nebraska 0 9:10 2nd Quarter

That was a forgettable possession for WWisconsin.  Badgers go three-and-out.  Hornibrook’s throw doesn’t fit in the tiny window as he targeted Jazz Peavy.  Nebraska springs the return out to the 45 but a blocking penalty will back them up inside its own 20.  Nelson with sticky coverage down the right sideline.  No where to throw the ball.  Nelson may have done some Seattle Seahawk clutch and grab stuff there.  Decent run sets up a nice 3rd down.  Dixon looked to be there early but no flag.  Incomplete and Huskers punt.  Monster punt and Wisconsin starts inside its 10.  Absolutely crushed.

On first down Taylor with a big hole through the B gap.  Another run moves the chains.  Screen to Taylor gets a maybe 4.   Shaw had tough sledding but keeps his feet moving and pushes forward for a first down run.  Badgers keeping it on the ground and using some clock.  Jet sweep foolsk nobody and Shaw cut down.  On 3rd-and-4 Hornibrook under throws Taylor and ball is incomplete.  Holding on Nebraska gives Wisconsin a first down.  Bootleg play action and Fumagalli gets Badgers close.  A 3rd-and-3.  Terrible play call as a play action to Taylor and Hornibrook lofts one to Taylor on the wheel route.  I like that call on 2nd down.  I hate that call on 3rd down.  Just let Taylor do what he does best.  Wisconsin punted and Tindal and Jamerson can’t keep it out of the end zone.

Off play action Nebraska goes up top and TOUCHDOWN HUSKERS.  I can’t believe the play design was Andrew Van Ginkel dropping in coverage.  Because Stanley Morgan just roasted the secondary.   He caught the ball at midfield and neither Dixon or Jamerson could chase him down.

Well, that’s an answer.  Taylor just zips thorough the right side of the OL and nobody on Nebraska is going to catch him.  TOUCHDOWN WISCONSIN

Wisconsin 17  Nebraska 7  1:09 2nd Quarter

Incomplete on a big throw from Lee.  On 2nd down, Nebraska runs for a big gain out past midfield.  Now the Huskers are in business to close the half.  Garrett Dooley rocks Lee as he throws.  On 2nd down pass incomplete.  Badgers have a chance to get off the field.  Lee another clean pocket and Nelson beat by Morgan for the first down.  Lee far too comfortable in the pocket.  Lee has room to run and slides down short of the first down.  On 3rd-and-1 Huskers get the first down.  Lee throws quickly to his right and nice strong catch by Morgan.  But just six seconds left.  I don’t think you can take a chance here.  I just kick the field goal.  Nebraska left with a second left.  If Connelly makes the tackle in bounds the clock might run out.  Nebraska is lucky the RB who caught the ball slipped out of bounds because he stays in he doesn’t score and half end.
