Wisconsin topped Nebraska on Saturday night in Lincoln.  Here’s a review of the key plays from the Badgers 38-17 victory of the Cornhuskers.

Wisconsin football (5-0, 2-0) kept its perfect season alive in Lincoln with a 38-17 win.  So here is an analysis of the key plays from the Badgers win on Saturday night.

Despite the comfortable final score line, the outcome was far from secure until into the fourth quarter.

Bucky tops the Big Ten West standings.  In fact, every other divisional team has at least two losses.  In addition, Iowa, Minnesota, Northwestern, and Illinois all have two losses in conference play.

But while Wisconsin now controls the division, it was hardly an easy ascent.  The Badgers started okay, jumping out to a 10-0 lead and taking a 17-10 halftime lead.

But a bad Alex Hornibrook interception drew the Huskers level.  The good news, is the Badgers responded by scoring three straight touchdowns to close the game.

Of course, the Badgers did that on the ground.  The last completed pass came with 4:56 left in the third quarter, a touchdown throw to Quintez Cephus.

Jonathan Taylor was the star, per usual, with 25 carries for 249 yards and two touchdowns.  But Pitt transfer Rachid Ibrahim replaced injured Pitt transfer Chris James to the tune of seven carries for 51 yards.

On defense, D’Coa Dixon and TJ Edwards each had nine total tackles.   Meanwhile, Alec James added five total tackles including a tackles-for-loss.  James’ contribution was nice to say given the injuries shortening the depth chart on the defensive line.

There were a number of key plays that swung the odds on Saturday.  Here is Badger of Honor’s review.
