Badger of Honor gives our report card for Wisconsin football’s 38-17 victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday evening

Before we turn our full attention to the rising Purdue Boilermakers, lets pause to submit a report card for Badger football against Nebraska.

Wisconsin ultimately earned a win giving it control of the Big Ten West.  But, things weren’t always smooth for the Badgers on the road.

In fact, the game was tied 17-17 early in the third quarter after a terrible Alex Hornibrook pick6.

Yet Wisconsin quickly used its powerful running game to restore the natural order of things to close out the game with three touchdown drives.  The Badger defense of course clamped down allowing just 68 yards and 0 points after halftime.

Wisconsin football are no strangers to adversity this season, especially in the opening 30 minutes.  The Badgers were tied with Utah State and trailed Northwestern at the break.

However, a strong second half has (so far always) more than compensated for any sluggish starts.  Of course, Wisconsin is playing with a little fire here by letting virtually any opponent hang around for a couple quarters.

Nebraska was no different.  Wisconsin jumped out to a 10-0 lead before the teams traded scoring blows in the closing minutes of the first half.   The Badgers were up 17-10 on the Cornhuskers into the break.

After the game tying interception return, Wisconsin asserted control going to the ground.  Badger freshman Jonathan Taylor ran all over the Cornhuskers with help from Bradrick Shaw and Rachid Ibrahim.

In the end, Wisconsin’s power was too much for Nebraska to handle.  So scroll through and see our report card for the offense, defense, and special teams.
