1st Quarter

Wisconsin starts with the football.  Sideline report suggests lightning could be a problem.  Badgers will start on the 25 after the kickoff skids through the end zone.  AJ Taylor lines up out wide but Jonathan Taylor squirms forward for 6-7.  Wisconsin motioned Cephus to the left side of the line and ran to the right.  Taylor gets just 2 on the next carry.  Out of the I and Taylor is gone.   Purdue run blitzes and doesn’t get him and there’s nobody home.  TOUCHDOWN WISCONSIN

Wisconsin 7  Purdue 0

Purdue with a decent kick return.  Alec James sheds his block and limits the damage on the first down run.  Chris Orr somehow drops an INT that was right in the bread basket.  Let off for the Boilers early.  For reasons I don’t understand, Purdue runs it on 3rd-and-7.  Guess what? it didn’t work.

Taylor gets stoned as Wisconsin tries to run to the right.  So far Wisconsin has run right three times and up the middle once.  Screen to Taylor, his first reception of the year gets a first down.  Another false start, that’s the second of this series.  Oof.  No matter, Quintez Cephus gets open on an out route past the sticks.  Good strong throw from Hornibrook.

Bradrick Shaw with some nice hard running and nearly popped that one.  Purdue again with nine in the box and a single safety.  Taylor back in there and he gets 6 more.  For the first time, Purdue gets in the backfield and its now 3rd and 6.  Badgers may be thinking two plays here.  Tons of time for Hornibrook and he works his way around to find Rachid Ibrahim to move the chains.  Shaw works hard and picks up a couple.  Off play action Hornibrook finds Cephus with some serious separation for the easy TOUCHDOWN WISCONSIN

Wisconsin 14  Purdue 0  6:12 left 1st Quarter

Purdue first down runs does little.  Slant to the TE gets behind the Badger LBs and gives the Boilers its first sign of life.    Airmailed on the next pass.  Purdue tries play action and fumbles the ball.  Quickly swarmed by Ryan Connelly and Leon Jacobs.  On 2nd and 17, Purdue goes five WR, short throw to get some of it back.  Now a more manageable 3rd down.  Incomplete but flag down.  Soft holding call gives Purdue a first down.  Screen blown up by Jacobs and Olive Sagapolu.  Edwards and Jacobs destroy a wide run.  On 3rd and 15, Badgers allow the completion but gets them in range for a FG.  Derrick Tindal beat on that one.  Pass rush didn’t both the Purdue passer.  FIELD GOAL PURDUE

Danny Davis with the kick return and Wisconsin starts on its own 23.  AJ Taylor carries on the jet sweep but only gets a couple.  Yet again, a false start.  The second on RT David Edwards.  Taylor works back to the football and closes the first quarter with a big reception to get a first down.
