Wisconsin Badger Football: Snap Reactions vs Purdue
2nd Quarter
Davis interfered with possibly on first down play action. Taylor looked to be stacked up and he bursts through the hapless Purdue defense. Good job securing the football as the Boilers swiped at it. Shaw no luck on a run as Taylor getting a break. Hornibrook way off on his throw and INTERCEPTION. Was looking for Danny Davis and throws it righ to the CB. Looks like Hornibrook was expecting the route to be broken in and it was not. Big return too and Boilers take over in Badger territory.
Nick Nelson drops an interception. Some strong pass defense on that series. Tindal and Nelson with pass breakups. Nelson should have had the INT. Ruined a hot take for me there. Great punt and Wisconsin starts at its own 4.
Taylor gets 7 on first down to give the Badgers a little room. Shaw powers ahead for the first down. Shaw again, this time for 3-4 on the new set of downs. You feel like points here, especially a touchdown may steal Purdue’s soul. Flag down as Hornibrook dumps it down to Shaw. Defense flagged for hands to the face, and that’s a gift. Thanks Purdue. Right over the center and yeah, that one was obvious. Shaw again, out to the 44. Badgers in 3rd down. Play action doesn’t work and Hornibrook just isn’t mobile enough to get that first down. PUNT BLOCK and Purdue will take over in the red zone.
Wisconsin 14 Purdue 3 8:44 left 2nd Quarter
Wisconsin defense called upon again to rise up and hold Purdue to just a field goal. Frankly if the guy who returns the blocked punt doesn’t get injured on the return (hamstring?) he probably houses it. Garrett Dooley with a big sack on first down and Purdue runs for like 4-5. A third down sack and so much for Purdue doing anything with the gift. Alec James is bigger and stronger than you. A 42-yard FG attempt is NO GOOD

Wisconsin runs to the right again and Taylor finds lots of acreage again. Just good blocking at every level and Purdue has no answers. Taylor runs twice to set up a 3rd and medium in plus territory. Davis runs a stem route and wide open over the middle for the first down completion. Shaw runs down to the Purdue 30. Badgers keep running to the right, jet sweep puts them in 3rd and 1. Purdue times the snap count well and dumps Shaw in the backfield. That’s a huge stop for the Boilermakers. WISCONSIN FIELD GOAL GOOD
Wisconsin 17 Purdue 3 2:38 left 2nd Quarter
I’m not sure Wisconsin needed four guys to stop that ball carrier but it definitely gets the job done. On 2nd down, big run up the middle gets the Boilermakers out to the 45. Purdue drops the screen but that saves a few yards and time because Wisconsin had it sniffed out. Dontye Carriere-Williams beat on a slant. Boilers in Badger territory with clock running under 1:30 left in the half. Finally Purdue burns a timeout. Just :46 left and staring at a 3rd and 5. False start now 3rd and 10. Another false start and now its 3rd and 15. Boilermakers get some yardage back on WR screen gets nine yards back. Boilers will go for it on 4th and 6. Catch made and TJ Edwards will get targeting meaning an ejection. That is a bad call and I hope its reversed on replay.
Call is upheld. Incomplete and a swarm of Badgers led by Connor Sheehy get another sack. Purdue will have to settle for a FG attempt on the final snap of the half. Boilers lose about 7-8 yards on that play. After two TOs the Badger defense shifts and causes a false start. Now it’s a 59-yard FG attempt. FG GOOD
