Wisconsin Badger Football: Snap Reactions vs Purdue
Halftime
Both Wisconsin and Purdue have to feel like they left points out there. Purdue got 0 after an interception and blocked punt. Wisconsin threw a terrible interception when it was moving the ball. In addition, the Badgers probably should have tacked on something before the end of the half.
Here are the first half statistics
- First Downs (17-12 Wisconsin)
- Time of Possession (18:37 – 11:23 Wisconsin)
- 3rd Down Conversion (Purdue, 1-6) (Wisconsin, 3-5)
- Rushing Yards (186-21 Wisconsin)
- Passing Yards (93-78 Wisconsin)
- Penalties (Purdue, 6-40)(Wisconsin, 5-40)
As it stands, Purdue starts the second half with the football and have to feel like they can keep the pressure on the Badgers. However, they still have no answer for Jonathan Taylor and the Badgers running, especially to the right side of the OL.
Yet, Alex Hornibrook isn’t great, but Wisconsin might need to find a dose of confidence for him. Because the Boilers are playing a very conservative scheme and loading the box. They are either playing with a single safety or in cover zero with nobody over the top.
That means the fast Wisconsin WRs should have room to play. But it’s on Hornibrook to deliver the football in time and accurately.
Taylor has 12 carries for 149 yards and a touchdown in the first half. Of course, 67 of that came on one carry. So he has 82 on the other 11 totes. Still solid though. The Badger offense will have to keep riding him as Shaw has had feast or famine on his runs.
Once again, the second half Badgers are a sight to behold. So Purdue better do something with the ball to start the second half or it could get ugly early in the final 30 minutes.
