Wisconsin Badger Football: Snap Reactions vs Purdue

3rd Quarter

Purdue takes over on its 25.  A run gets a decent 5.  Boilers spread the Badgers out well there.  Purdue tries over the middle and Nelson breaks it up. I think his third of the day.  Purdue QB scrambles an dives to get the first down.  Boilers try to get tricky with some misdirection on an inside toss.  Badgers have none of it.  Leon Jacobs off the edge races around the edge and chases down the QB for a short gain.  Nearly a sack.  Carriere-Williams with great coverage and needed it because a good throw from Purdue nearly made a big play.  Wow, Nelson with some tough running to get maybe 20 yards of field position back off a booming punt.

Wisconsin 17  Purdue 6  12:18 left 3rd Quarter

Badger out of the I and run to the short side for a short gain.  Taylor with a couple more and now its 3rd and 5.  Ibrahim in for Taylor.    Hornibrook looked to be sacked and kept his wit to flick it out to Ibrahim who runs for the first down.  Upheld and Taylor wriggles through the middle for a first down.  Purdue ready for the jet sweep to Taylor and gets little.  On 3rd and 1 its FB dive time and it’s a first down.  Shaw with a good run but flag down.  Holding on Kyle Penniston yeah, he just tackled that dude. Good call.  Badgers in a 1st and 20.  Hornibrook again with time, but he just checks it down to Shaw.  Wisconsin at the 33.  Cephus works back to the ball and gets the needed yardage but a flag down.  Yet again, Hornibrook with a nice comfortable pocket.  Penalty on Ibrahim erases the first down.  He was just trying to help.  On 3d and 7 play whistled dead for a flag.  False start backs up the Badgers.

Chaos on third down.  Hornibrook throws an interception.  What is he doing?!?  Just ground it.  Instead, ball bounces up to Purdue LB.  Good job by Hornibrook to save the touchdown.  Purdue takes over inside the 30.

Purdue dials up trick play and it comes to nothing.  Short run and now its 3rd and 5.   Tindal   smothers a 3rd down throw, ball was off the mark and he was short anyways.  Purdue 40-yard FG GOOD

Wisconsin 17  Purdue 9  4:13 left 3rd Quarter

Wisconsin needs an answer,  Shaw and Taylor run gets a first down out to the Purdue 40.  Taylor forward for a few more.  Clearly we’re using the Nebraska game plan and why wouldn’t you.  Taylor around the right edge for another first down.  Shaw gives him a blow but only gets a couple.  Cephus waits and makes a big play  Hornibrook under throws a ball to Cephus but the Badgers’ leading receiver runs a deep post across the Purdue defense and Wisconsin in 1st and goal.
