4th Quarter

WISCONSIN FUMBLE. Taylor fumbles in the pile and Purdue recovers.  Looked like maybe he held the ball a little too high giving defense a good chance to rip at it.  Boilers will take over around its own 5 yard line.

Well Purdue with three good runs and get two first downs.  Nearly a decent gain for the Boilers out to midfield but TE drops the pass and correctly reversed on replay.    Great pass break up by Derrick Tindal.  Dixon blitzed late to hurry the throw.  False start and Purdue staring at 3rd and 15.  Screen call moves the chains.  Alec James couldn’t rip him up and Ryan Connelly misses the tackle.  Boilers pass over the middle another first down and Nelson beat that time.  Too big a cushion.   Wisconsin burns a TO to avoid a 12 man penalty as Boilermaker tempo causing problems for Wisconsin.  Badgers stuff a run and Sheehy bats a pass.  On 3rd and 9, Boilers go for it all and pass drifts out of bounds.

Shaw falls forward for a few yards on first down.  Delayed handoff the wrong call and Badgers are in 3rd and long.  Hornibrook has time and high and wide of the mark for Danny Davis.  The freshman WR is down injured.  Badgers will punt as its a sad three and out.

Tindal looks hurt but fantastic punt coverage.  Purdue takes over with 10:33 left down 8 and the ball at its own 39.

Somehow the option got 3-4 yards which is about 5-6 more than it deserved.  Nelson falls down in coverage and Purdue moves into Badger territory.  Purdue ramping up the tempo.  Stretch play down to the 42.  Flea flicker turns into a TE screen and long catch and run down to the 10.

INTERCEPTION.  Leon Jacobs is something else.  Badgers play coverage and eventually pressure gets there to move the Purdue QB to his right.  He targets a receiver on the sideline but Jacobs just makes a play.  Badger ball.

Taylor run gets nothing, and Hornibrook takes a sack on second down as pocket eventually collapses.   Wisconsin’s Kendric Pryor just runs downfield, stops and a great throw from Hornibrook for the first down.  Pryor’s first catch.

Taylor slipping tackles on first down and Wisconsin out to the 42.  Look like a little problem on the handoff and Purdue dumps the play for a loss.  On 2nd down, Garrett Groshek takes the direct snap and runs right for a big gain into Purdue territory.  Taylor grinds forward for 6 more yards.  Clock rolls under 4 minutes.  Another run for loss.  Badgers are the 37 in 3rd and 6.  Perhaps thinking two plays.   But Cephus gets the yards to gain.  Runs to the sticks, stops, catches the ball and  bulls ahead for the first down.

Groshek with a twitchy run through the middle and the Badgers are now in the red zone.   Taylor gets a couple more and Boilers have to start burning timeouts.  Again another good run from Taylor and its 3rd and short.  Wisconsin a yard or two from victory formation.  Taylor runs close to the line to gain.  Purdue challenges of course as they should.  If its a first down the game is basically over since the Boilers have no timeouts.

FINAL Wisconsin 17  Purdue 9

It was not a pretty affair by any stretch.  But the Badgers get another win and move to 6-0 and a perfect 3-0 in conference play.
