Wisconsin Football: Prediction for Indiana Hoosiers

CHAMPAIGN, IL - OCTOBER 28: Jonathan Taylor
CHAMPAIGN, IL - OCTOBER 28: Jonathan Taylor

Wisconsin football takes on the Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday from Bloomington.  So what is Badger of Honor’s prediction for the game?

The 4th ranked Wisconsin Badgers (8-0, 5-0) are the heavy favorites again this week against the Indiana Hoosiers (3-5, 0-5).  Of course, Wisconsin has let lesser opponents hang around to often in previous games.

So what is Badger of Honor thinking we’ll see this weekend?  Read on for our definitely going to happen and completely accurate prediction.

As we noted in our Indiana Hoosier preview, the home side doesn’t run the ball well.  That’s just as well because outside of one BYU drive, nobody has against the Badgers.

However, Indiana has had some success throwing the football.  So if Indiana does anything offensively on Saturday, and they might, they have to go to the air.  The Hoosiers most dangerous weapon is the big, physical Simmie Cobbs Jr.

For Wisconsin, health is probably the biggest variable for anything.  Assuming Jonathan Taylor is good for his regular workload, the Badger offense should breath easier.

Defensively, D’Cota Dixon looks to be good to go which is a security blanket for the Badger secondary.  He and regular safety Natrell Jamerson may need to play deeper off the line of scrimmage to support the pass defense.

So what do we predict for Saturday?

Another solid Wisconsin win.  The Badger offense will get off the mark and put up some points against Indiana.  A healthy Jonathan Taylor will reclaim his rightful place as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week.  Troy Fumagalli will dominate the receptions and yardage in the passing game (#hottake).

Defensively, the Hoosiers will have more success than previous Wisconsin victims. So, you know, any.  Indiana will connect some big plays but the Badger pass rush is too diverse and active.  That will ultimately doom the Hoosier causes especially with no running game.  As always, I’ll predict Nick Nelson will get his first Wisconsin interception.

Indiana adds a late touchdown that harms the final margin.  Yet again, the Wisconsin doubters will claim the result as proof the Badgers are overvalued.  Yet again, it won’t matter as Wisconsin moves to 9-0 and a win away from clinching the Big Ten West.
