The Wisconsin football season will begin in Camp Randall against Western Kentucky. The kickoff time was just announced.

The only thing better than Wisconsin football at Camp Randall is Wisconsin football at night at Camp Randall. The powers that be in Madison must be well aware of this fact, since it was just announced the week one game against Western Kentucky will kickoff at 8 p.m.

August 31st is a Friday, so this news was to be expected. Regardless, the time is now official and Badger fans can plan accordingly.

The long run up to football season can be exhausting for fans and players. Even having to wait all day on that Friday may get to be too much. But when the sun has finally set and the lights are bouncing off the Badger helmets, nothing else will matter. Getting to let out an entire offseason of frustrations during a night game is what football fans live for.

It’s highly recommended to try to get to Madison for a football game if you haven’t been before. If the opportunity presents itself to attend a night game, the recommendation is even stronger. Being part of the atmosphere is an incredible feeling. The usual home-field advantage that Camp Randall provides likely won’t be necessary for Western Kentucky, but it’ll obviously be welcomed by the team.

The game will be aired on ESPN for a national audience, so expect coach Paul Chryst to dominate this one from start to finish. Of course, Wisconsin wants to win. In front of the ESPN audience, undecided recruits, voters and fans, the goal should be to show why the Badgers have aspirations of playing in the College Football Playoff.

Wisconsin will likely win this game by halftime and give many of the usual starters a good break in the second half. The numbers should still be impressive, but remaining fresh for an important conference slate is just as important.
