Where does Wisconsin Badgers coach Paul Chryst rank in the Big Ten?

The Big Ten is one of the premier conferences in all of college football. The SEC has dominated the national championship game and the ACC had its moment with Clemson. With the rise of the Wisconsin Badgers, the Big Ten is becoming one of the strongest conferences in the country.

A huge part of what makes a program great is who runs the show. A dynamite head coaching hire can turn a program around almost overnight. It can also sink a program and set it back years. Being a great coach means you recruit and develop talent, but most importantly, win games. After all, you play to win the game.

Since the Badgers hired Paul Chryst they are 34-7 and 3-0 in bowl games. They’re the overwhelming favorite in the Big Ten West division and have the Heisman trophy candidate in their backfield. They just won 13 games in 2017, the most in program history, and return just about everybody on the offensive side of the ball.

A great coach would be able to take what Wisconsin has and turn it into a special season. That’s just what I expect Chryst to do. It’s not much of a secret that he was a great hire in Madison, but where does he rank against some of the other big-name coaches in the Big Ten?

Honorable mentions: Scott Frost – Nebraska, P.J. Fleck – Minnesota, Kirk Ferentz – Iowa
