Graham Mertz made the final field in the prestigious Elite 11 quarterback camp Monday.

After a weekend of workouts, Graham Mertz made the cut in the Elite 11 quarterback camp. Mertz will compete in the camp with 11 other quarterbacks for the title of Elite 11 MVP. The camp is the premier place for the best high school quarterbacks in the country to showcase their talents, compete and grow as players.

Mertz is one of the hottest names in college recruiting at the moment. Everybody is aware of his meteoric rise. Competing in the Elite 11 camp will only help his case in becoming a better recruit.

The field was officially released by 247 Sports and they had a comment about each of the quarterbacks. The bit about Mertz is bittersweet.

"There may not be a higher upside thrower in this class than Mertz and college coaches have signed off on that by making him a priority despite his pledge to Wisconsin. Notre Dame, Clemson and Ohio State are among the others chasing."

It’s apparent that he’s good. There’s no more debating that. After offering Mertz only a few games into his junior season it’s obvious the Badgers have a gem. The hard part is going to be fending off the bigger schools. It’s not going to be easy to keep Mertz.

Wisconsin fans are well aware of what a great quarterback can bring to this program. In 2011, Russell Wilson had arguably the best season ever for a Badgers quarterback. The offense was elite. If not for a couple bad breaks, the Badgers could have played for a national title. Alex Hornibrook had flashes of great play late last season too. Miami’s ‘turnover chain’ defense had no answer for Paul Chryst’s play calling when the Badgers were a legitimate threat to move the ball through the air.
