Wisconsin Football has been making noise in the world of recruiting.

Wisconsin football has one of its best recruiting classes in history slated to join the program in 2019. Offensive tackle Logan Brown and quarterback Graham Mertz lead the class and are conducting their recruiting processes in unheralded ways.

Brown has been comfortably committed to Wisconsin for quite some time now. He’s made it known he doesn’t want others to try to sway him into flipping schools, because he just doesn’t have any interest in leaving Wisconsin.

Mertz, one of the hotter names in the class of 2019, recently joined Brown in this thinking. He stated on Twitter that he was shutting down his recruiting to focus on the upcoming season and was done considering other schools.

So what does this mean for Wisconsin? For starters, it means the Badgers can rest easy knowing the two crown jewels of the class of 2019 seem to have no interest in entertaining offers from other programs.

Last year’s signing day went smoothly with the Badgers getting letters of intent from every verbal commit they had. There was no wavering on commitments and there was no drama. With Brown and Mertz declaring they won’t be swayed from Wisconsin, it appears the Badgers will have a smooth signing day yet again. Paul Chryst must be doing something incredibly right.

Impacting other recruits

The confidence Brown and Mertz have in Wisconsin and the dedication they have to their commitments to the program are significant. It means Wisconsin should be recognized in the same group as other powerhouse programs. The Badgers don’t need to worry about Brown and Mertz flipping now. They can instead have them be ambassadors for other recruits.

Linebacker Spencer Lytle and offensive tackle Bryce Benhart are two of Wisconsin’ top remaining targets. They were on campus for a visit recently with Brown, Mertz and a slew of other committed players. If they commit, you can be sure a large part of it would be because of their classmates.

Wisconsin is picking up traction and respect as a force to be reckoned with. The latest commitments from Brown and Mertz reinforce that. Programs like Michigan, Ohio State and Notre Dame had hopes of flipping them, but no longer.
