Wisconsin Football: Big announcement coming today?
Some Wisconsin Football class of 2019 commits are tweeting cryptic messages. Is some major news about to drop today?
As Badger of Honor told you at the end of last week, this was a big recruiting weekend for the Wisconsin football program. The weekend prior saw a lot of current committed Badgers in town for an official visit. The most recent weekend was focused more around uncommitted players.

Wisconsin has already seen one of those uncommitted players pledge to the program since the weekend was up. Gio Paez, a defensive tackle from North Carolina, made his announcement on Twitter shortly after the weekend concluded.

Listed at 6’3, 285 pounds, Paez has recently picked up offers from NC State and Nebraska. The defensive linemen should fit in nicely with what Wisconsin likes to do defensively.
With the great news about Paez’s commitment, there appears to be more coming. Graham Mertz recently shut down his own recruiting process, but it looks like he’s not going to stop recruiting others to Madison.
So what could this tweet mean? Running back Julius Davis, a commit in the class of 2019, also joined in tweeting something similar to Mertz. Davis was part of the official visit group over the weekend, so he may know something.
Semar Melvin, a defensive back from Florida, is thought to be committing to Wisconsin, but his commitment date is set for June 23. Could the announcement be from one of the four-star linebackers, Lance Dixon or Nick Henrich? Wisconsin was not a favorite to land either, according to 247 Sports’ predictions. But maybe things have changed?
Wisconsin could also be expecting a commitment from Bryce Benhart or Spencer Lytle. Both visited last weekend with Mertz. Davis was also on campus that weekend.

Either way, something big should be coming today for the Badgers. Mertz is well aware of what his recruitment, and the recruitment of others, means to the program and the fans. I wouldn’t expect anything less from this special class.
