9. Nebraska Cornhuskers

This is another program here mostly due to its coach. After all, we just got done talking about Minnesota who put up 51 points on this Cornhuskers team just a year ago.

Nebraska is a spot ahead of Minnesota because Scott Frost is a better coach and because Nebraska has a stronger tradition. The offense that Frost will bring with him to Lincoln is going to be one of the most dynamic in the country. The talent may not be there just yet, but the concepts definitely will be. Nebraska won’t be fun to play at all.

Nebraska actually finished with a worse record last year than Minnesota, but there was more promise. Stanley Morgan Jr. is going to be one of the best receivers in college football after his breakout season in 2017. The offense Frost likes to run will try to put up a lot of points. Morgan Jr. still managed 10 touchdown catches last year for a bad Nebraska team. With a more offensive-minded coach, the sky is the limit for the future NFL receiver.

Nebraska may be able to score with some of the better teams in the Big Ten, but it’ll have to greatly improve on defense, where it gave up over 34 points per game. Defense isn’t Frost’s specialty, so it’s likely a lot of games involving Nebraska turn into track meets in 2018.
