Right Tackle: David Edwards

David Edwards was in a similar position to Deiter and Benzschawel at the end of last year.  He could have entered the NFL as an early round draft pick and end his successful Wisconsin career.  Edwards, along with Benzschawel, handle arguably the best side of any offensive line in the country.  The former high school quarterback is due for another All-American season while also proving to NFL scouts why he is a first-round talent.

Edwards was an absolute road grader for Wisconsin last year.  He consistently pushed around defensive linemen to open up holes for the Badger backfield.  Despite being 6′ 7″, Edwards still shows the ability to lower his pads and get leverage on defenders.  Watch Edwards (#79) dominate the defensive end and steamroll him ten yards past the line of scrimmage.

With no sign of slowing down, Jonathan Taylor could be enjoying Edwards’ services even more next year.  The only criticism you can make of Edwards is that at times he was not lights out in pass protection. It is a safe bet he will improve in this department.  If you ask quarterback Alex Hornibrook, I am sure he couldn’t be happier that this beautiful mountain of a man is there to protect his blind side.
