Key Reserves

Jon Dietzen

The redshirt junior more than held his own last year as Wisconsin’s starting left guard.  However, his season was plagued by injuries and in some games was unable to play in the second half.  Look for Dietzen to get some much deserved time to rehab his injuries and come back ready to contribute.  At the very least we can all gaze upon his luscious locks and natural beauty.

Micah Kapoi

Another member of the All-Hair team, Kapoi is one of the most experienced reserves in the country and has played in 34 games and started in 14 of them.  Kapoi has the ability to be plugged in without missing a beat.  When Benzschwael missed the BYU game last year due to injury, Kapoi performed admirably at right guard.

Jason Erdmann

When Dietzen was unfit to finish games last year, Erdmann filled his spot at left guard.  Erdmann showed the potential to be a quality blocker within Wisconsin’s running game.  It was clear that Erdmann was improving each game. His consistent progression could mean more playing time in 2018.

Patrick Kasl

Kasl could be the sleeper among the offensive linemen.  He showcased his potential in pass protection against a talented Miami defensive front in the Orange Bowl.  Playing mostly at right tackle last year, Kasl will compete for the left tackle position this year.  Kasl could find himself capturing starting snaps or setting himself up to be the next starting right tackle once David Edwards concludes his college career.

Kayden Lyles

Lyles has many Badger fans excited for the future of the offensive line.  The coaching staff has been extremely high on the redshirt freshman’s strength and technique as a young player.  The consensus 4-star recruit was dominant during the spring and will add more depth to the interior of the line.  Although there may not be much playing time available this year, look for Lyles to be a three-year starter in Madison when his time comes.
