Wisconsin Football - WR Quintez Cephus
MADISON, WI – OCTOBER 21: Quintez Cephus (Photo by Stacy Revere/Getty Images) /

WR Quintez Cephus

Position Rank: 38

Overall Rank: 88

Cephus is Wisconsin’s best wide receiver and he’s super talented. His ranking takes a hit for two big reasons. First, he missed time last year due to a pretty serious injury. Returning well from it isn’t out of the question, but it’s a concern nonetheless. Second, he plays at Wisconsin, which is known for running the football. Wisconsin hasn’t had a 1,000-yard receiver since 2013. Cephus could have a great year, but it would likely be so by Wisconsin standards.

Cephus is definitely a talented player and could overperform his current ranking because of that. Touchdowns are a surefire way to boost fantasy points. If Cephus can become a reliable target around the goal line, he won’t need as many yards to rack up points.

Cephus is good enough to separate from one-on-one coverage at the line of scrimmage and that’s where I think he will excel this year. In the red zone when teams are keyed in stopping the run, Cephus will be able to win battles and get some easy touchdowns.

Choosing Cephus towards the middle of your fantasy draft is where his value is. It’s great to have confidence in his game, but the system he plays in does make him a gamble. Choosing the top receiver in an offense like Wisconsin’s is as risky as choosing a secondary option in a high-powered spread offense, like Clemson’s Hunter Renfrow who is ranked just behind Cephus.
