QB Alex Hornibrook

Overall Rank: 469

Hornibrook is getting all kinds of disrespect from the Yahoo experts here. Most college football fans won’t even think about Hornibrook, but I believe he’s worth a draft pick in the late rounds. How many other teams with national title hopes have a quarterback with a grade this low? It just doesn’t add up.

Hornibrook didn’t have a great year last year. He threw 15 interceptions to only 25 touchdowns and didn’t post outrageous yardage numbers. I’m not saying he’s worthy of being your top quarterback, but he’s worth having in your back pocket if your QB1 has to play a tougher nonconference game than Hornibrook’s first three games.

I’m being partial to Hornibrook here because I think he needs to take a step up to put Wisconsin solidly in the College Football Playoff picture again. And Wisconsin plays enough weak opponents where Hornibrook could be a spot starter in a pinch. His numbers will improve, it’s just a matter of how much. And if you miss out one of the top quarterbacks, it may be worth it to play a guy like Hornibrook in favorable matchups.

Only consider drafting Hornibrook if you’re in a league with some other Badger fans. Otherwise, you’ll be able to pick him up after the first few games and you get a better idea for what kind of season he’ll have.
