Sophomores
Next up for Badgers in the NFL are the sophomores, last years rookies. This class includes six former Badgers, three of which were drafted.
OT Ryan Ramczyk – New Orleans Saints – Ramczyk, the former first-round pick, has been as solid this preseason as he was last season. According to Pro Football Focus (PFF), Ramczyk had one of the best performances all preseason thus far in the Saints week 2 game against the Cardinals.
LB T.J. Watt – Pittsburgh Steelers – Watt has missed out on all of this year’s preseason games due to a hamstring injury just five days into training camp. There is a possibility he will see some action in the final preseason game against Carolina. He should be good to go by the start of the regular season.
LB Vince Biegel – Green Bay Packers – Biegel had a solid night, tallying four tackles (three solo) in the Packers loss in Oakland on Friday night. Biegel is battling for a backup job at the outside linebacker spot on the Packers. With the emergence of Reggie Gilbert, it looks like Biegel will have to overtake Kyler Fackrell to back up the other side. Biegel is in a good position to make the Packers this season.
RB Corey Clement – Philadelphia Eagles – As a big part of the Eagles season and Super Bowl victory, Corey Clement will make the roster this year. Along with Jay Ajayi and Darren Sproles, Clement got the night off for the Eagles third preseason game in Cleveland.
DB Sojourn Shelton – Free Agent – Shelton has missed the entire preseason and training camp with a torn thumb ligament and a broken hand. He was waived by the Cincinnati Bengals with an injury settlement.
RB Dare Ogunbowale – Tampa Bay Buccaneers – The Tampa Bay Bucs signed Ogunbowale part way into training camp. He has been solid so far. This week he had only seven yards on four carries and one reception for eight yards, but he also had a kick return for 21 yards. His ability to catch the ball out of the backfield and create mismatches with linebackers gives him some value as a 3rd down back. As long as he continues to make plays on special teams, look for him to lock up a spot on the Buccaneers 53-man roster.
