Veterans

The last part of the Badgers in the NFL is the veterans. Many of the players in this section are established on their teams and will likely find their way safely onto their respective team’s roster.

Offense

QB Russell Wilson – Seattle Seahawks – Wilson finished his dress rehearsal 11/21 with 118 passing yards and one rush for five yards to add to it. Wilson is considered one of the top quarterbacks in the league and many are looking to him to carry his Seahawks squad.

RB James White – New England Patriots – White did not play in the Patriot’s week 3 game against the Panthers.

RB Melvin Gordon – Las Angeles Chargers – Gordon did not appear in the game this week against the Saints.

FB Derek Watt Las Angeles Chargers – Watt is the fullback for the Chargers, he is a lock. He had one catch for 11 yards this week.

WR Alex Erickson – Cincinnati Bengals – Erickson finished Sunday with two catches for 37 yards. He isn’t nearly the most talented receiver on the Bengals, but he is consistent. He’ll be on Cincinnati’s roster when the season begins.

WR Tanner McEvoy – Free Agent – McEvoy finished the game with no catches. He has only one catch this preseason for just 11 yards.  McEvoy was released from the Seahawks after the game.

TE Lance Kendricks – Green Bay Packers – Kendricks had two catches for 20 yards. He had a touchdown pass slip through his hands that he should have caught. Kendricks could be in danger of missing out on a roster spot on the Packers.

TE Austin Traylor – Denver Broncos – Traylor recorded no stats this week. He is battling for a spot with the Broncos. He looked good early on but a shoulder injury could have hurt his chances to make the team.

OL Kevin Zeitler – Cleveland Browns – Zeitler has missed the first three preseason games due to a calf injury. He returned to practice and should be good to go by the start of the season.

OL Ryan Groy – Buffalo Bills – Groy and the rest of the Buffalo offensive line had a rough game. Rookie quarterback Josh Allen was running for his life while he was in. Right now, Groy is listed as the starting center for the Bills this season.

OL Rick Wagner – Detroit Lions – Wagner is a locked in starter for the Lions this year.

OL Tyler Marz – Tennessee Titans – Marz is a backup behind Pro-Bowl tackle, Taylor Lewan.

OL Travis Frederick – Dallas Cowboys – Frederick is out indefinitely after being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease.

OL Rob Havenstein – Los Angeles Rams – Havenstein just recently signed a big extension with the Rams. He is the starting tackle for the Rams barring an injury.

Defense

DL J.J. Watt – Houston Texans – Watt recorded one tackle in limited snaps this week. Watt looks to return to his All-Pro form after his season-ending injury last year.

DL Beau Allen – Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Allen recorded no stats in his game this week. He has one tackle on the preseason.

LB Joe Schobert – Cleveland Browns – Schobert recorded two tackles this week in limited action. He is the top tackler on the Browns and finished 144 tackles last season. He is a locked in starter for the upstart Browns.

DB Chris Maragos – Philadelphia Eagles – Maragos has started the season on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. He has not appeared in a game this preseason.

DB Darius Hillary – Free Agent – Hillary recorded one tackle on special teams for the Washington Redskins. Hillary has been waived from the team.

DB Dezmen Southward – Carolina Panthers – Southward did not record any stats in his game with the Patriots. He is competing for a backup safety role with the Panthers to make the team.
