Wisconsin Football crushed Western Kentucky 34-3 on Friday night. Which three individual performances stood out the most in the Badger victory?
It wasn’t always pretty, but Wisconsin Football passed the first test in its pursuit of a College Football Playoff berth with a big 34-3 win against Western Kentucky on Friday night.
The Wisconsin offense looked fairly sluggish to start the game, only leading Western Kentucky 7-0 at the conclusion of the first quarter. As the game wore on, Alex Hornibrook and company did slowly settle in and began to resemble the unit we were all expecting to see this season.
That being said, you would have liked to see this talented Badger offense wrack up a bit more than 34 points against what was arguably the weakest defense on its schedule. For context, no Badger of Honor contributor had Wisconsin scoring less than 48 points when we came out with our game-by-game predictions.
The defense, on the other hand, looked excellent, preventing the Hilltoppers from scoring a single touchdown. Were it not for one mistake to begin the third quarter in which the Badgers allowed a 48-yard pass that ultimately set Western Kentucky for a field goal, the defense would have pitched a shutout.
Despite returning just 4 starters, this Wisconsin defense appears as though it is capable of taking up the mantle of last year’s elite unit.
Overall, there were several individual performances on both sides of the ball that really stood out in the Wisconsin victory, but let’s take a look at the three Badgers who were particularly impressive against Western Kentucky.
