The outside linebacker position opposite of Andrew Van Ginkel appears to be a question mark no more thanks to Zack Baun. He’s always had the potential, just never the luck of staying healthy until now. And he’s making the most of his opportunity.

Baun is an incredible athlete and brings really good size to the position. I thought he would be exceptional as an edge rusher, but he’s playing great football against the run too. He’s been in on every play that’s come his way and he’s doing his job as well as anybody else on the defense.

Last week I put Van Ginkel in this post because I wanted to see if he could get to the quarterback, and he did. This week I’m putting Baun in this post because I want to see if he can further solidify his position on the defense with a huge play this weekend. He’s always around the ball, so a forced fumble, a scoop and score fumble recovery, a clutch sack, or even an interception are all in play.

Baun is the kind of player that a lot of defenses wish they had. Pay close attention to him this weekend and see how many plays he gets in on. He’s a great player and a huge asset to a continually improving defense.
