There’s only one thing that I think can stop Ohio State right now. Fortunately for the rest of the Big Ten, that thing is happening this week. The Buckeyes are rolling and look like a true national title contender. Penn State appears to be the only true competitor in the Big Ten and they host the Buckeyes this week.
Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins is one of the best quarterbacks in the country. His ability to throw the ball in ways that J.T. Barrett never did has opened up this offense in ways it has never been before. With two all-conference level running backs and a plethora of receivers, this is also one of the best offenses in the country.
The difference between Ohio State and Penn State is on the defensive side of the ball where the Buckeyes have a marked advantage. Ohio State’s defensive line is loaded and led by Nick Bosa, who many believe will be the first overall pick in next spring’s NFL Draft. The problem for the Buckeyes is Bosa will miss this game due to injury. Still, the advantage leans Buckeyes.
The winner of this game has an inside track to the College Football Playoff and the top spot in these power rankings next week. They’ll both play Michigan and Michigan State down the road, and Penn State will host Wisconsin later too, but those games don’t mean anything with this weekend’s matchup looming.
