Wisconsin Football: Current state of the 2019 recruiting class
By Sam Land
Tight End
Commitments
Hayden Rucci- Lilitz, PA (Warwick)
Other current targets:
Hudson Henry- Little Rock, AR (Pulaski Academy)
Wisconsin made Hayden Rucci a priority target at tight end, and the staff was rewarded for its efforts when the high 3-star prospect committed back February. He has been solid in that pledge ever since.
If you check out Rucci’s film, you see a strong, well-rounded tight end. At 6’5 and 225 pounds, he is a punishing blocker who should fit in perfectly with Wisconsin’s power-run attack. That being said, he compliments that with some nice pass-catching ability as well. It appears to be a pretty safe bet that Rucci is going to be a solid player in this Wisconsin offense.
The staff has been trying to find a second tight end to pair with Rucci in this class, but that has been tough going. They went after Erick All (Fairfield, OH) and Josiah Miamen (Dunlap, IL), but both prospects committed elsewhere. All gave his pledge to Michigan, while Miamen had Wisconsin as a finalist along with Iowa, but committed to the Hawkeyes earlier this week.
The Badgers have also been in on Hudson Henry (Little Rock, AR), the No. 50 overall prospect in the nation. They have had him on campus before and made his Top 5 list, which is an accomplishment in and of itself considering his other offers.
Badger fans (including this one) would understandably lose their minds if Henry decided to bring his talents to Madison. Alas, the unfortunate reality is that he appears likely to end up elsewhere, specifically Arkansas or Stanford.
If Wisconsin is going to land another tight end, it looks like the staff is probably going to have to offer some new players. Stay tuned here.
